Nook Book

Hey lovelies! Today's blog post is all about the nook by Barnes & Noble! Just want to start out by saying this isn't sponsored or anything like that, I just truly love this product and wanted to share about it with you all! (super random side note: my nails have reached that length where its sooo impossible for me to type this without a million and two typos! 😂)

(this is what the nook glowlight looks like naked, the later pics are after I recently spiced it up a bit for funzies! 🔥🌶)

If you've known me for a while then you know I love books -- I could read all day long! And, you also know, I love to travel. Obviously those two don't go together in a very practical way if I am lugging around a bunch of books all the time! Just to give a little example on how much I move around, since I moved to china I have changed actual residences 5 times in 2 years and that's not including the travel trips I have taken which exceed that number!

I like 300 page books on average because that always feels like a solid amount of time to really develop the characters and the story and prefer my books in series. Can you imagine moving several series of 300 page average books around?📚 No thanks! Don't get me wrong, there is definitely something to be said about reading a physical book -- especially one centered around growth or spirituality. It's nice to flip through, highlight, add notes and such but unfortunately for the lifestyle that I have chosen, that isn't a super practical way of doing things. Luckily for me some great minds came up with e-books and e-readers! yayyyy! 💃🏽

I bought my first nook with my own money (that I saved up for a very long time for) when I was 14 years old. At that time e-readers were fairly new and Barnes & Noble and Amazon had come out with e-readers and only the first versions. I ended up choosing the nook because a waitress at the restaurant my parents and I went to every Sunday had one. She told me all about it and showed me hers! Naturally I was super excited because that way I could carry several books with me wherever I went without actually carrying several books with me! I wish I had a picture of that old nook because boy has it evolved over the years!😂 The first one that came out was actually as big as an average sized book and it was about as thick as a 200 page book. I was beyond ecstatic the day I bought it and couldn't wait to try it out and tell everyone about it! That nook was well loved and well used and is now out of commission which is why I have the new one you see in these pics!

This nook is called "Nook Glowlight" and there are several different versions if you're looking for one yourself! You can find the options easily on the Barnes & Noble website and choose the one that best suits your needs! I chose this one for it's size, backlight, and price. Let me tell you all about the...

Things I love about my nook:

1. More privacy. If I'm reading a spicy romance novel at work, during my break, I don't have to worry about a student coming to say hello and seeing some explicit cover art! 😂 If you know you know! 💁🏽‍♀️

2. User friendly. It's super easy to navigate and has a very simple layout/concept once you understand it. It's also meant specifically for books only, which means no getting sidetracked by social media and the internet!

3. Library Organization. This has specifically come in handy for me more recently since I've decided to try a couple different genres. I'm able to organize my library "shelves" however I see fit. I have categories for genres as well as series at the time being and I can change or add to categories easily and at any time!

4. Highlight and book mark. If there's a specific part of a book that sticks out to me I am able to actually highlight that part of the text so when I come back to it I can easily find the text I was looking for. Same with the book mark, if I want to mark a certain page that's of importance or if I simply want to hold my place in that book and visit a different book in the meantime I can book mark it! All of the book marked pages are easily accessible and simple.

5. Glow light feature. This is one of my favorite parts about this version of the nook that the first one didn't have! I like to read at night time, in bed, with the lights off and this feature allows for that so easily! Not only can I adjust the brightness of the back light but I can also adjust the color. Much like on the iPhone how it has like a night time setting that's a warmer yellow color which easier on your eyes than the blue light led color. Luckily with the adjustable brightness tool, utilizing the light for long period of time doesn't drain the battery super fast which leads to the next thing!

6. Battery life. The Glowlight nook has a battery life of about 50 days on one charge (provided its read in shorter increments of time like 30 minutes. I do not read it only for 30 mins a day! Not by a long shot but even when I'm reading it for upwards of 3 hours per day the charge still last me about a week which is pretty amazing considering! And, it charges back up super fast. If my nook is on 5% when I plug it in, in less than an hour it is back up to 100% even if it's in use the whole time. (the old one used to take a lot longer to charge so this is a major upgrade!)

7. Storage. There's a ton of it! Which means more books than I can imagine -- AT MY FINGERTIPS -- ALL THE TIME! That's obviously the best part! 😉

8. Touch screen. The whole screen is touch (unlike the first version) which makes it that much easier to use. I can click on icons to navigate my nook easily and I can use the touch screen to change pages.

9. Buttons. This nook has 6 buttons all together. The: power button on the top, home button at the bottom center, and 2 page turning buttons on the right and on the left. All of these buttons help keep it user friendly and easy to navigate.

10. Portable size. This version of the nook is especially portable. It fits in all my bags easily, its super light weight and it honestly goes with me everywhere which is the whole point!

11. Matte Finish. The screen as well as the whole nook itself is matte finish actually. The reason this is important is because it means I can read outside in broad daylight without glare and without difficulty seeing at all. I love this about my nook because when the weather gets nice I enjoy reading outside!

12. Book store selection. There's a huge selection in the book store and the best part is that I can access and purchase from the book store without a VPN! Hallelujah 🙌 There are always all kinds of deals to get books for cheaper and there's even a category of books that are a dollar that I can choose from! I can search genres, book titles, or authors and I'm sure to find whatever I'm looking for. Reviews of the books, suggestion for books like it, and the summary of the books are all included in the search! Plus you can even get a sample of the book before buying it if you're not sure from reading the summary that you'll like it or if you just need to wait till payday to purchase the whole thing. And speaking of that, there is also a "wishlist" setting in the book store where you can add all the books you want to buy in the future! This is super helpful to keep track of the books you want to buy and prioritize which ones to buy first!

CLEARLY I love my nook! 😂 I have since I was 14 and I probably always will! There are million great things about it that I could go on and on about but I've pretty much said most of it! I am incredibly grateful for all the hours of joy, growth, spice, adventure, comfort, and fun it brings me and I just wanted to share that with you all.

If you have been thinking about getting an e-reader, take this as your sign to get one! You won't regret it and nowadays there are all kinds of e-readers out there for super affordable prices! If you're on the fence about which one to buy well now you know how I feel about Barnes & Noble's nook sooooo... 😉

Do you have an e-reader? What are you favorite things about it?

What's your favorite genre of books?
